SoundAppraisal applies the soundscape approach to develop technology and solutions to improve the quality of the auditory environment and, by extension, quality of life.

Humans are not decibelmeters, instead they give meaning to sounds. The soundscape approach, in conjunction with perception research, psychology, artificial intelligence, and other fields of science, allows us to develop useful tools. These tools help us to understand how people relate to and give meaning to their (auditory) environment. Developing and testing soundscape technology for practical and useful applications that benefit Quality of Life allows us to critically evaluate our understanding of soundscapes while at the same time benefiting society.
